In the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, we cover almost the whole field of pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. We treat a large number of patient from all over Japan and also from overseas; with 300 inpatients and 15000 outpatients per year per week. These include patients with rare disorders, which are difficult to diagnose and treat. We also work with NCCHD’s research institute. We provide samples to them, while they feed back more precise molecular diagnosis. We also contribute to their investigations, exploring disease mechanism on molecular basis. Our treatment is based on comprehensive diagnosis, made using not only clinical and biochemical findings but also molecular analysis. We also provide an interdisciplinary team approach in diagnosis and treatment. As a team, we work together with pediatric urologists, geneticists, neonatologists, oncologists, surgeons and neurosurgeons, as well as nurse specialist, dieticians, pharmacist.
