We are OrcaMind, and this is our original song "Sujameco" Written / Produced by: OrcaMind - @JosiahEverhart and @michelleheafy Filming/Recording/Mixing: OrcaMind This is our submission song for the 2026 Tiny Desk Contest! Sujameco is our song we wrote about a space shipwreck by the same name. We like to call it our space shanty. We livestreamed this filming/recording session. On our livestream, we perform two and a half hour shows, four nights a week to our fun community! Our music focuses on memorable melodies and detailed songwriting, with haunting dual harmonies and intertwining lead vocals. OrcaMind's style is influenced by classic video game music, and we like to create vibes that transport you to another world. The song has 3 "acts" within it. In fact, when writing it, we storyboarded it like we were writing a movie. This is for sure the song that the most people have asked us to release, after playing it on our stream and at live performances over the past couple of years. Funny story: our friend who owns a music venue likes this song so much that - we played two nights of Xmas shows where everyone plays holiday themed songs...but he literally made us play Sujameco on both nights. It's definitely not a holiday song if you listen to the lyrics lol. We've had this song in production in our home studio for a long time. We're so particular and ambitious about this song that we just kept waiting on finishing it due to different factors. We first attempted to record this song in our usual studio style (in isolated vocal booths, separately), and it just wasn't how we wanted it delivery-wise. It needed to be more natural, acoustic and raw. We shelved the song's production, again. I also feel that this song is an attention span healer lol - because you just gotta listen to the whole thing to get the full story and vibe. When the contest opened up this year, we decided to finish Sujameco once and for all. This time we would perform it the way we do it most often - live, together, acoustic for our streaming audience! And it clicked! Enjoy our tale of the haunted abandoned spaceship - Sujameco. Tell me captain, what will we do? Your orders are to set a course For the strange faint reading’s source You picked it up near Ganymede So put the engines at full speed Sujameco was the name Written there in faded paint A century in solar rays Had peeled the paint and turned it grey Captain, it has been forsaken Such a peculiar course it's taken Far from any trading lanes I can't say that I've heard that name Drifting for a lifetime appears To be the way ended up here A simple scan will not suffice We should board and search for life To man the helm I was assigned Captain led, I stayed behind, said: "Be prepared to disembark Crew, descend into the dark" Hours passed They cleared each deck - seemed Not much more than a shipwreck Until a voice came through the fray On the comms, I heard it say Run while you still can The devil's got you in his hands Run while you still can The devil's got you in his hands The voice was sordid and contorted Was nothing like I'd heard before It curdled blood and splattered wits If you were there Well you'd believe it Rushing back as fast as they can Grasping the controls in my hands Moved themselves a force beyond me Docking rings were disengaging The pleas transmitted were erratic But the screaming fades to static I had no choice but to evade Still it haunts me to this day You'll never hear the end of Sujameco In the dead of night you'll cry And hear it echo Run while you still can The devil's got you in his hands Run while you still can The devil's got you in his hands Run while you still can The devil's got you in his hands Run while you still can The devil's got you in his hands
