https://learnlooklocate.com/breast-ca... ♥️ Barry Rosen, MD: “Something that's really very poorly understood is the role of density and the importance for women to know their breast density. Density can't be felt. This is only something that's identified by imaging, typically by mammography. And upwards of 40 to 50 % of all women in the United States have dense breast tissue. The reason that it's critical to know that is that it's the perfect storm of badness when you have dense breast tissue. On the one hand, dense breast tissue will mask cancer. So if a woman has a cancer in their breast and doesn't know about it, and they go to a breast center for a screening mammogram, there's a 25 to 50 % chance that mammogram will not see that cancer because it will be masked by dense breast tissue. And that if we know that that woman has dense breast tissue, we can unmask that by doing supplemental imaging, testing such as screening ultrasounds, contrast enhanced mammography, Molecular breast imaging or what tends to be the gold standard test MRIs can all help unmask that dense breast tissue and identify the cancer that may very well be there.” Dr. Barry Rosen is a breast surgical oncologist in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where he has been in practice for over 25 years. Simultaneously, he has worked as Chief Medical Officer for hospitals and industry and is currently a medical director at Aptitude Health. Dr. Rosen’s commitment to excellence in breast cancer care extends beyond his clinical practice. He has been on the faculty for prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS), the School of Oncoplastic Surgery, and the National Consortium of Breast Centers. His passion for creating national standards for quality outcomes in breast cancer surgery led to his chairmanship of the National Quality Metrics for Breast Centers (NQMBC) and his participation on the Patient Safety and Quality Committee for the ASBrS. As the Senior Medical Advisor for Learn Look Locate, Dr. Rosen plays a crucial role in guiding our organization’s medical content and educational initiatives. His extensive experience and commitment to patient education align perfectly with our mission to provide comprehensive, accessible information about breast health and cancer. Company Information: Cynthia Jordan, Founder of Learn Look Locate LLC in 2018 has generated a global movement to provide critical education for the early detection of breast cancer. It is estimated that one in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. While most of these cases are diagnosed in women over the age of 50, the disease can affect women of any age. Early detection is critical to survival, yet many women are not familiar with the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. We advocate the importance of self-breast exams, what to look for when performing a self-exam, and when to see a doctor. We provide resources for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as for their families and friends. The five-year survival rate for women who catch their cancer early is nearly 100%. Here’s an important statistic. Many women do not perform self-breast exams or see a doctor for regular screenings. Learn Look Locate LLC wants to highlight the work of organizations around the world that are working to promote early detection of breast cancer. We will feature stories of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and share their journeys. There are several ways to diagnose breast cancer, including mammograms, biopsies, and ultrasounds. Once breast cancer is diagnosed, there are a few treatment options available, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The best way to treat breast cancer is to catch it early and to get the best treatment possible. There is a strong community of women who have been affected by breast cancer. In addition, there are a number of organizations and resources available to help women find the support they need. Learn Look Locate LLC provides resources for women who want to get involved in the fight against breast cancer.
