Turkey is making rapid advancements in defense technology, and one of its most ambitious projects is the KAAN stealth fighter jet. However, what truly sets this project apart is Turkey’s determination to develop a fully indigenous jet engine, eliminating reliance on foreign suppliers and strengthening its national security. The National Combat Aircraft (Milli Muharip Uçak – MMU), now officially named KAAN, is a fifth-generation, twin-engine stealth fighter developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI). It successfully conducted its maiden flight on February 21, 2024, marking a significant milestone for Turkey's airpower. But for KAAN to achieve true self-sufficiency, it requires a domestically produced jet engine, which is currently in development by TUSAŞ Engine Industries (TEI) in collaboration with TRMotor. Turkey’s indigenous engine development program is expected to produce a powerful twin-engine system by 2028, making KAAN a truly independent fighter jet. Until then, the prototypes of KAAN will continue to use General Electric’s F110 engines. The new engine will incorporate advanced stealth features, improved fuel efficiency, and high thrust-to-weight ratio, ensuring KAAN's capability to compete with top-tier fighter jets like the F-35, J-20, and Su-57. The integration of an indigenous jet engine into KAAN has major strategic implications for Turkey. Not only will it enhance operational flexibility, but it will also boost Turkey's defense exports, with countries like Malaysia and Saudi Arabia already showing interest in the aircraft. By reducing dependency on foreign technology, Turkey is strengthening its position as a rising power in the global defense industry. This groundbreaking development is a testament to Turkey's growing aerospace capabilities. With KAAN and its indigenous engine, Turkey is proving that it is no longer just a buyer of cutting-edge defense technology—it is now a creator, shaping the future of air combat. #kaan #tfx #fighterjets #türkiye #turkishairforce #stealthfighter #Kızılelma #BayraktarKızılelma #Anka3 #TürkHavaKuvvetleri #MilliMuharipUçak
