Early on the morning of January 8th, 2006 a young man by the name of Cullen Fortney stumbled into the emergency room at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in the college town of La Crosse, Wisconsin. He told medical staff a strange, disjointed tale of drinking at the bars one minute and waking up in the Mississippi the next. While police wrote it off as a drunk kid falling into the river, a string of similar incidents with much more tragic endings has led many to believe that Cullen didn't just fall into the river. Instead, many believe he was the fifth known victim of a serial killer, and the first to survive. Kevin Gannon and Anthony Duarte think it's connected to their Smiley Face Killer theory.
