Jurisdiction Explained | Types & Examples | Supreme Court's Jurisdiction

Hi everyone, in this video I have discussed the various types of jurisdictions in the Indian judicial system: 1. Original Jurisdiction: When a court has power to hear cases first. 2. Appellate Jurisdiction: Authority of higher courts (Supreme Court and High Courts) to review and overturn decisions made by lower courts. 3. Advisory Jurisdiction: Supreme Court's ability to provide non-binding opinions on legal questions referred by the President of India. 4. Territorial Jurisdiction: Courts' authority to hear cases within specific geographic areas, ensuring that cases are tried in appropriate locations. 5. Pecuniary Jurisdiction: Limits based on the monetary value of cases, determining which court can hear a particular civil case. 6. Subject Matter Jurisdiction: Courts' authority to hear cases related to specific subjects, such as family law, criminal law, or commercial disputes. Apart from these we also have Special Leave Petition & Suo Moto Cognizance in our Judicial System. ☑️ A Special Leave Petition (SLP) is a discretionary appeal mechanism that allows individuals to seek permission from the Supreme Court of India to challenge any judgment or order from lower courts or tribunals, as provided under Article 136 of the Constitution. ☑️ Suo moto cognizance refers to the authority of a court to take action on its own initiative, without a formal request from any party, typically in cases where it perceives a violation of law or public interest. 📌 My NEW Course on Criminal Laws - https://tinyurl.com/3-New-Criminal-La... 🔴Constitution Course- https://tinyurl.com/Constitution-of-I...
