ESMC Webinar: Climate Resilience: Pollinator Habitats

Climate Resilience: Pollinator Habitats features Dan Shaw, Senior Ecology and Vegetation Specialist for the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), who presents an overview on the benefits of pollinator habitats and emerging strategies for rural and urban landscapes to maximize landscape benefits and climate resilience. Following Dan’s presentation, Aaron Hanson from the University of Minnesota Institute on the Environment (IonE) presented his work on several research efforts for solar farms that provide high quality vegetation and low-impact development. The Empowering Small Minnesota Communities Project (ESMC) was established by the State of Minnesota during the 2023 legislative session to support small Minnesota communities and local government units with added capacity to develop and better coordinate more resilient, sustainable, and adaptable infrastructure projects. The Minnesota Design Center is working with the Center for Transportation Studies, Center for Urban and Regional Affairs, Humphrey School of Public Affairs and the Regional Sustainable Development Partnership at UMN to lead this initiative.
