We needed this week to be easy, it wasn't | VanlifeNZ

This week was meant to be gentle. Easy. Quiet. Instead… it became the complete opposite....FULL ON and LOUD! We’re travelling through Southland, New Zealand, chasing simple joys — coastal walks, freedom camping, seafood at low tide, and a much-anticipated date scone — while quietly holding space for something much heavier: the one-year anniversary of Louise’s mum passing. Along the way, life had other plans. A lost (and very loved) chicken knife. Bins were involved. A shipwreck that wasn’t. Bluff oysters in the rain. Foraging for mussels just in time… And then — a tsunami warning that sent us packing inland, cooking dinner on the roadside and rethinking everything. Thanks for being here with us 🤍 We’re Louise & Kelly, and LGBTQ+ couple living in our van Iceberg. Back in 2020 we had a Mid-Covid Life crisis and decided, like most of the world, to make a plan to leave our jobs and do what we love. For us it's travel...... bring on full time travelling by 2025. (It was 2022, then 2024 – but that’s another story!)
