Two summers ago I purchased this Motobecane C2 frame from Poland. I live in a small Northern Ontario town in Canada. I bought this bicycle because I had seen one when I was younger at a local bicycle shop called Fresh Air Experience. Back then this frame made of Vitus 172 and equipped with French components retailed for $1100.00 Canadian. I couldn't afford it then. The Motobecane C2 was an entrance level bicycle. The three main tubes were made of double butted, Vitus 172. Vitus 172 was as light if not arguably just as good as Reynolds 531. I like this bicycle so much I outfitted with Campagnolo Gran Sport and Nouvo Record. I believe it turned out well. I will be changing out the handle bars later this summer with Cinelli 46s. Surprisingly, since upgrading this frame with vintage Campagnolo components, this Motobecane C2 weighs in at approximately 22.5 pounds. That was a pretty good weight for a bicycle back in the 70s and 80s. One of the features of Motobecane's as opposed to their competitors, Peugeot and Mercier was that Motobecanes had many more braze on fittings. Also, Motobecanes seemed much more opened to using English threading on their bottom brackets. All French bicycles like are made very well. I have also upgraded two Peugeots on this channel, a PR10 and a PX10 LE. Thanks for viewing. The background soundtrack comes from the movie, Vanishing Point, 20th Century Fox, The song is "So Tired" is by Eve.
