With Eid right around the corner, it’s time for our prayers to be rewarded. And what better way to celebrate than with a big, delightful bowl of Sev Korma! 😋 Sheer Khurma, lovingly called Sev Korma in many Bohri households, comes from Persian roots. “Sheer” means Milk and “Khurma” refers to Dates. The earliest versions of the dessert were a rich milk preparation with dates and dry fruits. Over time, in the Indian subcontinent, Sev (Vermicelli) became a part of the dish. Some believe it was added to give the dessert more body and make it stretch for larger gatherings during Eid. Whatever the reason, the addition of Sev turned it into the royally comforting dessert we know today. Today, Sheer Khurma is an essential part of Eid-ul-Fitr (Meethi Eid) celebrations across the Indian subcontinent and parts of Central Asia. Every household has its own style of making it, often with a small “secret ingredient” that only the family knows. We would love to hear the stories you grew up with and the memories attached to this beautiful dish. ✨🌙 Presenting Chef Juzer’s Bohri Style Sev Korma - wishing you an Eid filled with love, laughter, and above all, good health. ------------------ Comment or DM me if you are looking for an authentic Bohra recipe.
