As is the case with many hair loss sufferers who wear hair systems, the time had come when he was no longer happy with wearing something artificial on his head and all the maintenance and inconvenience in his life that goes along with a hair piece. When we saw him at the clinic for his initial consultation, we wanted to create realistic expectations. Those wearing hair systems are used to a certain amount of coverage and density that is difficult to achieve through a hair transplant unless the donor hair is exceptional. Knowing we likely wouldn't be able to achieve the same amount of coverage and density, he was willing to a compromise and be happy to rid himself of the hair system. Also adding to the challenge was the fact that his hair shaft diameter was fine which would require a larger number of graphs to achieve the same result as someone with average texture hair. The first 4482 graft FUT procedure accomplished the mission of rebuilding a new hairline , frontal zone and mid scalp. While not as thick as the hair system, the result was much more natural and visually pleasing. The second 2900 graft surgery added density to the necessary areas in the front but more importantly addressed the need for coverage in the crown. As you can see the crown is not thick, thus his desire to add more grafts to the crown. However, even a light crown covering is much more cosmetically appealing that a large bald crown so the benefit was evident. Even though the hair was fine, fortunately the donor supply was above average and his third procedure was able to be performed shortly after this video was shot. Considering the challenge in covering such a large amount of bald scalp with fine hair, the result exceeded his expectations and Dr. Wong was also very pleased with what was able to be accomplished. After his upcoming procedure which added 2341 grafts to the crown, the result should be even more impressive. A total of 7382 grafts were needed to achieve the result seen here. We'll hopefully be able to update again once the latest procedure is fully grown reflecting the additional 2341 grafts placed in the crown.
