Hello! Thanks for reading my description. I have found that after a decade of buying and selling my gear I have learned some lessons from buying and selling new and used gear. Buying NEW: Warranty: You could get a warranty up to 1 year. This has saved a lot of people from dropping hundreds if not thousands of dollars to fix their defected items. Rewarding: Did you have a good year? Did you make a lot of money? Well, sometimes it is nice to reward yourself with a brand new camera for equipment for your business. Support Small Business: I know how important it is to see it before you buy it. Unfortunately, some bit box stores won't carry the gear you want to buy. There is maybe 2 Best Buys that is stocked with all the film gear in my city of 2 mil people. The only camera store in my city has way more stuff and a knowledgeable staff. I enjoy going in and buying gear. That is you telling them I love that you are here and I am investing in your company. Extended warranty: Not all companies offer extended warranties, some third party companies do, but beware as they do not offer the same coverage as the brands do. Returns: 30 DAYS or 15 DAYS. Not every company does this so you have to responsible to check your receipt and ask them questions. Preference: I know that this could be a pet peeve for some people. Or they were raised to work hard and buy it brand new. Tax Write Off: Consult with a CPA or Lawyer Buying USED: Cheaper: I have always looked for the best deal. If I can't find it on sale I am going to buy it used. Some items were not so affordable, but I recently bought a camera that cost $1000 in 2010 for $150... Does it match today's video standards? Depends who you are asking. Sell for Profit: Buy the item for $27 and sell it for $70. BOOM! You just made $43!!! Is that your intention to sell for profit? Probably, but the fact is you might as well try to make money when selling the gear after you have some fun with it. Also, try to buy something that might be broken to others and see if you can fix it. Watch a YouTube video and fix it yourself. Networking: This is truly my favorite part of selling off my equipment. I have on numerous account sat down and networked with individuals who are unsung champions in their field and at times I have learned a thing or two. A wise man said I got where I am today because I learned things along the way. I remember I made the leap to buy a lens and took the risk. I loved the lens , but ended up having to sell it in the long run, because it didn't fit my needs. I listed it on craigslist and it immediately had some interest. After multiple conversations with the buyer (to see if they are legit and build rapport) we met up. We exchanged numbers and since then he has helped me land some paying gigs. So that risk and investment in that lens got me my money back x fold and even better I earned a friend. Save money in the long run: You will need to buy multiple items as you build your productions or business. Eventually, your numbers will add up to the thousands of thousands of thousands of dollars. lol. So save thousands buying second hand and go through a camera store since they usually offer decent warranties. Support Creators: I believe that some creators run into trouble with finances or passion projects, but other times you may like what they create and you want to see more of that, so invest in buying their gear and build a relationship with them. This is important, because gear can cost us our time when trying to sell it off. Negotiate and have fun. Thank you for reaching the end of this! Please Like, Subscribe, and Comment down below! Peace!
