The Regional Connector is now open! The project adds three new underground stations in downtown LA and combines the A, E and L Lines into two rail lines — the new A and E Lines. This ride begins on two separate trains heading toward downtown Los Angeles. The train on the left is a southbound A Line (formerly L Line) train at Union Station, and the train on the right is a westbound E Line (formerly L Line) train at Pico/Aliso Station. From there, the two lines merge under downtown LA, sharing the same tracks through five stations, including three new ones: Little Tokyo/Arts District, Historic Broadway, and Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill. Riders are able to transfer between the A and E Lines at any of the five stations they share. The lines diverge after Pico Station and the trains continue along their separate routes. The trains in this video are running north-south (A Line from Azusa to Long Beach) and east-west (E Line from East LA to Santa Monica). Trains also run in the opposite direction on the same lines: south-north (A Line from Long Beach to Azusa) and west-east (E Line from Santa Monica to East LA).
