Gitaru Interchange Progress The construction of Gitaru Interchange is taking shape. This is a major interchange that will link the Southern Bypass, Western Bypass, and A8 Road or Waiyaki Way the road that leads to highly populated side side of Kenya, it's also the main road that leads to Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, South Sudan and Northwest parts of Tanzania. The construction aims to delivering seamless connectivity and enhanced road safety. Upon completion, the interchange promises faster commuting, easier access of the various intersections, and general growth for Nairobi and beyond. Kenha announced the closure of the Southwestern Loop to Southern Bypass at the intersection of Waiyaki Way and Western Bypass. the closure of the loop is to allow for scheduled roadworks for the reconstruction of the South-Western Interchange Ramp and slip roads. KeNHA in their announcement, said the section of the highway would be closed for 45 days from June 28, 2025, to August 11, this year. To avoid inconveniences, motorists who plan to use the section of the road are urged to use alternative routes, including the Kikuyu link road from the first Total Station after Gitaru or Sigora Gold Club junction. The Kikuyu-Link route is meant for motorists coming from the Waiyaki Way and heading to the Southern Bypass.
