In partnership with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, this webinar explores the environmental dimensions of cannabis cultivation and manufacturing in New Jersey, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance and sustainable practices. This webinar will cover the operational impacts on land, water, and air, the necessity of obtaining regulatory authorizations, and how businesses can proactively address challenges such as odor control, energy use, and community engagement. Drawing on research, state agency interviews, and industry insights, we’ll provide actionable recommendations to minimize negative environmental and community effects while aligning with regulatory standards. Key topics include early engagement with regulatory bodies such as the Cannabis Regulatory Commission, Department of Health, and Department of Agriculture to understand constraints before purchasing land; developing compliance plans for odor control and energy reduction; and conducting economic growth analyses to assess community impact. Attendees will also learn how to foster collaborative relationships with stakeholders, educate communities, and implement strategies to align environmental sustainability with business goals in the cannabis industry.
