A dad’s reflection on his parenting style | Mike Jackson | TEDxWilmington

As a busy dad, struggling with juggling parenting, marriage, professional development and everything else we manage as adults, placing ever increasing demands on our lives, sometimes we are left feeling inadequate as parents. I’ve strived for most of my adult life to be the perfect parent, only to realize at every turn that most of what I was doing, focused only on my need to be a great parent and very little on what my kids actually needed from me. I’ve come to realize and accept, that the perfect parent can never exist and now can embrace that I’ve at times been a terrible parent, but have an opportunity each day to be better, and I want to share what I’ve discovered and how we all can be better parents once we eliminate the idea of the perfect parent.
