First off, sorry for my hiatus, this project took longer than I expected, but I'm glad its finally finished. As part of my biofuel research, I thought I'd have a go at making some biodiesel, and what better way to show people the process of such than to document my learning experience in a video! In this video I also explore the making of "ethyl ester" biodiesel from ethanol, as the use of ethanol would make biodiesel a renewable fuel., which makes it more sustainable than biodiesel derived from methanol. Despite this being the first time I've made biodiesel, I do go into a lot more detail than other video online, as I have done a fair bit of research on this, and have a lot of useful info to share. Biodiesels and other liquid fuels could serve as a stopgap for developing countries that don't have access to traditional renewable energy tech, like wind and solar, or can't afford electric vehicle infrastructure. It could also be used as a relatively low tech solution for renewable energy storage. ideally, biodiesel would be produced from lipids derived from algae, however for demonstration purposes I'm using standard vegetable oil. I hope you enjoy watching, and have a wonderful Christmas and new year! Side note: no, I didn't eat the sosig after filming xD
