When I was little, there was a place nearby where broken things were dumped for some reason. Tractors, televisions, brush cutters, small mysterious parts, VCRs. I took them apart or destroyed them with tools or with rocks I found nearby. I never repaired them, but I seem to have learned how industrial products worked or how to take them apart without knowing it. These memories have served me well as an adult. I feel as if I am reliving those memories. It all started with YouTube and a pair of pruning shears I found buried in the yard when I started living in an old used house. At first they were rusty everywhere and wouldn't work. Anyway, take a gold brush to roughly remove the debris. After that, I used water with baking soda dissolved in it to remove rust, sand, etc. Since there was no sign of movement anywhere, I electrolyzed it with sodium sesquicarbonate. Now that's a pretty powerful method! Then I remove the black rust again. Attach the pruning shears to a vise, attach a wooden rod to the handle, and use the principle of leverage to open the scissors. I use KURE 556 lubricant. Finally the scissors open! This made me happy. The bolt holding the scissors in place was broken. I made a thread in the broken part and managed to secure the scissors. The pruning shears need a stopper because they are spring-loaded to open, but these were rusty, probably because they were made of metal, so I made them out of leather. It looks a little stylish. The handle is wrapped with rattan. I'm not used to it, but I love it! The pruning shears themselves are very rusty and uneven, but when I rusted them black and wrapped them with rattan, they look kind of old and cool, and I like it. Next I found a small rusty shovel and will work on repairing it. So thank you for finding my channel. #restoration 0:00 Rusting with baking soda 0:28 Rusting to black with soda and electrolysis 1:04 Scrape off blackened rust again 1:27 Removing stuck screws 2:05 The moment rusty pruning shears move 3:00 Filling the empty hole with welding 4:02 Sharpening the blade 4:14 Trying black rusting with persimmon tannin 6:01 Cutting the threads 6:48 Rebuild the handle stopper 7:41 Install handle stopper 9:22 Wrap rattan around handle 10:28 Assembly 10:47 Attach spring 11:11 Trial cutting
