From Autopsy to Pavement Off the engine hoist and onto the brand new stand, I start tearing into the engine with intent to find it's cause of death. Off come the covers! While cleaning things up for a deeper inspection, something unexpected falls out... Is it save able? This is Part 2 of a Multipart Series on a 2006 Hummer H3 with a 5 cyl 3.5L engine and a 5 Speed Manual Transmission. In this video I continue the teardown of the engine, started in part 1. This vehicle refused to start, several years earlier, and just sat where it is, ever since. Total story unknown, the owner reached out to me and asked if I could help figure out why it "wouldn't turn over, even with a jump pack." Upon my arrival, he informed me that they had "gotten it to move a bit after working it back and forth with a breaker bar." (back AND forth is NEVER a good idea, as this can make timing components jump time) Either way, in this case it was necessary, as it it still couldn't be rotated more than 270° (degrees of rotation) without, what felt like, a very solid stop. After another hour or so, and removing the spark plugs for visual inspection of the valves, no interference could be found. Being that this engine is a TOTAL PAIN IN THE BACKSIDE to do anything on, while in the vehicle, we opted to pull it and tear it apart to find out why.
