The input gain is for both of the inputs 2. the spread amount is an offset for the second channel, if you set the offset too high it's not usable, to use it more musically make sure that the signals are panned right and left and then slightly spread the second channel - if you add a slow LFO into CV and add a little reverb on the whole signal you can have very wide spacy effect 3. If you want to make the module talk (formant style) you can try a saw wave into filter with medium resonance and the redux knob at 9 o'clock.
