The game Freedom Force builds its animated cutscenes from individual textures. It's a perfect candidate for AI upscaling. It does come at a performance cost. The textures contain 16x the number of pixels. That takes the half second load time all the way to 4 seconds. The resolution of the textures for the menus point to a source resolution of only 512p. Even at the standard 800x600 resolution of the time it was stretched. At a 4X upscale these look good at 4k and very sharp 1440 or 1080p. The AI upscale falls apart on a lot of alpha masks. You can see glows that cut off suddenly or don't exist all. Lots of manual work is needed to fix these mistakes.
