This is the Epiphone Limited Edition SG Special 1 electric guitar (for beginners) review and sound demo. I bought it with my own money for $150+tax from Musician's Friend. The regular price is $199+tax. These are only sold at Musician's Friend or Guitar Center, which is what makes them "Limited Edition." The only difference I can tell (besides finish/colors) between these and the Epiphone SG Special Satin E1 (which is $200 and sold everywhere) is the E1 has a tune-o-matic (TOM) bridge with stopbar tailpiece whereas these have a wraparound style bridge/tailpiece. The TOM bridge is easier to intonate and it's my favorite bridge style, but that doesn't mean these SG Special I guitars are bad. Anyway, I'm a big fan of the SG body style. You might know that. You might not. But what about the absolute cheapest budget SG on the market? Could it possibly be any good? Well, yes! Obviously this is a cheap guitar with cheap electronics and hardware, but Epiphone's quality control has consistently impressed me and this guitar only had one flaw. So yeah, this Epiphone SG Special I is pretty good. It's obviously not the best Epiphone SG, or even the best budget SG, but it's a respectable SG that I could very comfortably recommend for beginners or as a mod platform.
