Lightning Talk Session: Values Before Work Experience Lauren Welgush People and Performance Manager at Bambora Summary: How To Recruit For Your Company Do you want to become a values-driven organization, but not sure where to start? To be a values-driven organization, you need to be prepared to practice what you preach. The values you create need to be ingrained in everything you do; from performance reviews to recognition programs to recruitment to the way that you communicate in the office. Current employees need to believe in them, leaders need to live them, and a potential hiree should be able to feel your values the moment they step foot in the office for that first interview. To keep your values strong within your organization, you need bring these values into the recruitment process. Give a potential employee the opportunity to show you how they can demonstrate the values of your business. While there is nothing wrong with asking that age-old question “where do you see yourself in 5 years”, keep in mind hiring an individual who can bring something unique to the table and who embodies the values of your company will make for a positive culture. At the same time, you need to be careful; you don’t want to run the risk of hiring carbon copies of the same employee. A potential hiree can exemplify your organization’s values in many forms. Lauren Welgush, People and Performance Manager at Bambora North America, will lean on her years of experience searching for “oddly human” individuals who will drive the values of Bambora. In this session, she will speak on: • How to make values real and part of your language • How to put your values into practice across the organization • Finding the right fit for your values- It starts with recruitment! Identifying your values is one thing; finding the right person who will naturally act on those values, now that is a game changer.
