Hurricane Ida, the fifth-strongest to ever hit the mainland United States, has finally been downgraded to a tropical storm after spending 16 hours churning across Louisiana in what Joe Biden declared a “major disaster”. The planet is dying faster than we thought: climate disruption, biodiversity decline and human overconsumption and overpopulation are three major crises we are facing. Humanity is barreling toward a "ghastly future" of mass extinctions, health crises and constant climate-induced disruptions to society. Recently we have seen serious Cataclysmic Events hit numerous countries around the world. Wildfires, Earthquakes, Volcanic Eruptions, Floods, Storms, Tornadoes, Fires... These cataclysmic events are likely to be more frequent (: Man-made, Extraterrestrial and Natural disasters.
