In this video, I continue building and painting a U.S. Flames of War army as a Christmas gift for my friend, breaking down why I love miniature wargaming, army painting, and historical tabletop games. This is Part 2 of my Flames of War project series, following “Will This Flames of War Force Make It Home for Christmas?” I talk about what draws me to Flames of War, WWII miniature wargaming, and large-scale tabletop battles — from the artistic side of painting miniatures, to the freedom of using the same models across multiple tabletop systems like Flames of War, Bolt Action, Battlegroup, and O Group. As a commission painter, army painting and miniature modeling are a huge part of my hobby and my work, whether that’s historical miniatures, fantasy miniatures, or sci-fi armies. Miniature painting, modeling, basing, and army building are what really keep me invested in the hobby. Taking grey plastic or metal models and turning them into a fully painted tabletop-ready army is one of my favorite parts of wargaming. Whether it’s Flames of War, Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar, or other Games Workshop–style tabletop games, the joy of painting armies and seeing them finished never really goes away. In this series, I’m building a multi-period U.S. Flames of War force, covering North Africa and the Battle of the Bulge, fully painted and based, ready for the tabletop. This project combines army painting, modeling, historical research, and tabletop gaming — all wrapped into a surprise gift for a friend who wants to get into WWII miniature wargaming. if you're interested in comissioning me for a paint job or just checking out photos of my work checkout Instagram: / theemperorspainter Reddit: / theemperorspainter
