Tube Distortion Pedal (Hand Made)

The Tube Distortion Pedal is now complete and this video is the third and final in the three part series. This Distortion Pedal design has been about three years in the making. Three years ago I thought that it would be cool to build a 12ax7 tube based distortion circuit. I proceeded to build a rough circuit up and experiment to get an understanding of tube circuits. Within 12 months I built the preamp that is featured in the first part in this series of videos and in it own video that is featured on thecactustube. I have used that preamp for about 18 months as my distortion. But I wanted something pedal based that looked more at home on my pedal board and i wanted EQ built in to the pedal. So I had some rough ideas and and started collecting parts close to 12 months ago. Three months ago I began assembling the pedal and by New Year the circuit was running. Some changes were necessary from the original preamp circuit due to higher voltages from the HT supply and trial and error was used to iron out the excess gain causing the circuit to oscillate. Also I used some different potentiometer values and tapers to smooth out control issues with the premamp. All in all I am extremely happy with the Tube Distortion Pedal and i am already working it into my pedal board. Hope you enjoy this video. All the best Paul.
