Writer and film director Mr Amit Agarwal has always believed that entertainment wields the power to surpass its traditional role in our lives. Known best for his films ‘Son of Kali’ and the documentary ‘Farewell, Goddess’, Mr Agarwal presents his case for why cinema is an underrated tool for education – and how it can open our eyes to the limitlessness potential it holds in shaping our understanding of the world. Amit Agarwal is a award winning filmmaker, screenwriter and film thinker. His award winning short film Son of Kali examines global issues of migration and religious minorities in the Indo-Bangladesh context. Farewell Goddess a short documentary, asks a big question about mans abusive relationship with nature. His first short film A Special Man which dealt with the ambivalence of the Indian elite towards participative politics, premiered on NDTV Prime Channel. A self-styled Film Evangelist he writes about cinema at mostlycinema.com apart from publishing articles and photographs related to cinema in leading national dailies. In Singapore he currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival (SGSAIFF) and is pioneering a unique Image-literacy program for children.
