CHECK OUT OUR MERCH: https://www.redbubble.com/people/blin... While soaring through the infinite cosmos, the herald of Galactus laments about the life that he sacrificed, in order to save a world he can no longer call home. A WORD FROM CHRIS So if you haven't already noticed, this isn't like any of my traditional films. It's essentially an animatic. Kind of like those motion comic videos you see sometimes. I tried to crowdsource the necessary funds to make this project happen, but didn't make my goal. So rather than admit defeat and give up, I improvised. I may not be the best when it comes to green screen and special effects, but I am one hell of a good photoshopper. Since I actually have a BA in animation, I ended up putting my skills to use, and it definitely helped. I started the project by recording all my actors, both remotely and on location. Then once the costumes came in, I did several photo shoots. For the scenes with Norrin Radd and his wife, Shalla Bal, I went on location to an outdoor mall and we shot in this nice lounging section. I slapped a store bought bald cap on Tom Proprofsky, my model for Norrin, and photoshopped out all the seam lines. For the scenes involving the Silver Surfer, I shot against a black backdrop and photoshopped it out. I painted Tom's face silver with eye shadow. Yes, eye shadow. Then digitally erased all the seam lines to make him look like a solid figure, rather than a guy in a silver (unflattering) morphsuit. Galactus was (believe it or not) a Marvel Legends action figure, which I lit, posed and photoshopped out his mouth in exchange for Tom's. Yeah, Tom pulled double duty on this project, but only because my original model for Norrin Radd backed out last minute. I've always viewed the story of the Silver Surfer as melodramatic, and in the wrong hands, that can get super cheesy real quick. So I decided pull some inspiration from Rutger Hauer's Roy Batty (Blade Runner). His way of handling lament was truly special and I wanted the Surfer to have some of that, both in dialog and tone. Emannuel Mendes-Chumaceiro provided the voice for both Norrin and the Surfer. I wanted to really try and recapture the tone set by Laurence Fishbourne. So we worked together to get that vibe. Laura Van Yck both modeled and voiced her role as Shalla Bal. I wanted to give Shalla Bal just a little more dimension than she had in the original comics; and by making Norrin into a man who is essentially bored with paradise, it gives her a unique challenge, rather than just being the object of his affection. They now have a legitimate marital problem that needs addressing.
