The Monolithe de Corbara, also known as the Monolithe d'Algajola due to its proximity to Algajola, is a remarkable granite monolith located on the island of Corsica, specifically within the commune of Corbara. This monumental column was carved in 1828 by a team of Italian workers under the direction of engineer Jean Sancholle Henraux. The monolith was intended to serve as a base for a statue of Napoleon I, planned to be erected in Ajaccio - this is the official information. However, the project was postponed indefinitely, leaving the monolith at its origin due to its considerable weight and size.
