2022.07.06 Cardio-vascular toxicities in cancer therapy could well be life-threatening in debilitated cancer patients. Cardiac dysfunction caused by traditional anthracycline therapy, HER2 antagonist or novel target therapies (VEGF inhibitor, tyrosine kinase inhibitor) could be subtle but progressive, reversible or irreversible. Vascular toxicities from radiation therapy could be even more catastrophic and long-standing. Hypertension surge in VSP inhibitor therapy and QT prolongation in arsenic therapy could be disastrous unless carefully monitored and managed properly. Venous and less arterial thromboembolism is another threat from cancer-related hypercoagulability striving for precision management during cancer therapy.
