As a grower of cover crops, the most important thing is to have a plan for what you want your cover crop, single species or mix, to achieve. You need to consider the context of your land and the cover crop properties, so take into consideration, timing, whether you plan to graze or not, how much residue you want to leave, what cash crop follows the cover and cost of the cover crop.
