This technique is really good for any fruiting vegetable plant that you grow in your garden. From tomatoes to cucumbers to melons and squash. Pretty much anything that is going to fruit is going to benefit from extra phosphorus. So I add natural fertilizers like organic type fertilizer, and then I also add a little bit of bonemeal as well to give that boost of phosphate. I find for me, adding every 3 to 4 weeks is perfect for my garden. But I’ve heard of people doing it every two weeks and some wait and do it only once every two months. I guess it just depends on what type of soil you have. I do also supplement with liquid fertilizer’s, which do not need to be broken down. They are ready right away, but will run off after heavy watering after just a few days. So using both types is very beneficial as the organic is a steady and slow supply of food for your plants but the liquid gives them boosts when they really need it.
