Why Muggy Weld Is the Game-Changer Every Welder Needs!

Super Alloy 1 melts at just 350°F—half the melting point of pot metal. It’s easy to use. Dip the rod into the flux, paint the flux onto the parent metal, then heat. When the flux turns brown, add the rod. That’s it. Afterward, clean off flux residue with warm water and a wire brush. Sand smooth, then chrome plate, paint, or powder coat if needed. Super Alloy 1 is strong enough to fully repair pot metal and zinc diecast broken in half. It also fills gaps and builds up material easily. Keep it handy—it works well on aluminum, copper, brass, steel, pewter, and more, including combinations. You won’t find this at your local welding supply. Super Alloy 5 is the best choice for cast aluminum or when weld strength is needed. Its unique flux is crucial because aluminum doesn’t change color when heated. The flux signals the right temperature. When the flux turns clear and the aluminum looks shiny, add the rod while heating the parent metal and rod together. If the rod balls up, discard it and try again. Don’t add the rod before the flux signals, or it will block the area you need to braze. SSF-6 is one of MuggyWeld.com’s top sellers. This flux-coated silver solder works great on many metals and finishes cleanly. Heat the base metal to dull red using propane, MAPP gas, or an oxyacetylene torch. Add the rod and watch it flow smoothly. Usually, no machining or grinding is needed after brazing. If you prefer solder paste, try SSQ-6. It flows like SSF-6 and has the same strength. Just push the syringe and apply the solder to cold metal. It’s that simple. It works on as many metals as SSF-6. This is the SSQ-6 silver solder. If you want to arc weld or TIG weld your cast iron, the 77 and 72 electrodes are the rods of choice for welding cast iron. The 72 rods are used for burnt or heat-affected cast iron. The 77 electrodes are extraordinary for engine blocks like this, pumps, cases, heavy machinery; you name it. On heat-affected cast iron lay down a root pass with the 72 and finish with the 77 for excellent machinability. Cool Blue is now Heat Freeze. Heat Freeze paste works for almost any welding, brazing, or soldering job. When you need to stop heat, Heat Freeze stops it cold. If a part breaks in half, you fix one side, then flip it to fix the other. Without Heat Freeze, the first solder will soften and melt again. Using Heat Freeze on the joint lets you heat the opposite side without remelting. It protects heat-sensitive materials like glass, plastic, chrome, rubber, vinyl, and wood during welding. It also prevents metal warping and holds parts steady during work. After use, Heat Freeze is reusable. Let it cool, remove it, put it back in the jar, and use it again. Here’s a flux tip: heat the rod before dipping it in flux powder. If flux won’t stick, dip the rod in water first, then in flux. If there’s flux residue, just keep adding more flux without water.
