Coming up on this week’s show we’re off to North Cork to visit a working farm called Slí Eile where people experiencing mental health difficulties can find safety, acceptance and support to recover. Currently 7 tenants live and work here while receiving 24-hour support from social workers. We’ll be speaking to the founder, the farm manager and some of the tenants to find out more about this recovery model. After the break we’ll be at The Mallow Home and Garden Exhibition. We’ll tour the grounds of Cork Racecourse to see all of the landscape gardens and we’ll check out some of the other stands and displays that provide entertainment for the whole family. We’ll also be meeting with gardening expert Peter Dowdall to learn some gardening tips and we’ll visit the birds of prey from Kingdom Falconry. To finish the show we’ll be attending the increasingly popular Kildorrery International Food Fair to try out some of the 40 authentic dishes on offer by the 12 countries represented in the fair. 1. In this feature we’re off to North Cork to visit a working farm called Sli Eile where people experiencing mental health difficulties can find safety, acceptance and support to recover. Currently 7 tenants live and work here while receiving 24-hour support from social workers. 2. Mallow Home and Garden Exhibition In it’s 17th year The Mallow Home and Garden Exhibition has become an annual highlight for the entire family and attracts over 50,000 visitors from all over Ireland. In this feature we’ll be meeting with gardening expert and TV personality Peter Dowdall to learn some tips. We'll also be learning about falconry and showing off all of the other family friendly activities on offer at the Cork Racecourse. 3. Kildorrery International Food Fair The Kildorrery International Food Fair began 9 year ago to celebrate the multicultural cuisine made by local residents from a variety of different countries across the world. It is different from other food fairs in that there is no commercial involvement, guaranteeing that all of the food is homemade and 100% authentic. The entire community is involved in this event and even the local school children were tasked with creating the posters to mark each nationality. This year there are 12 stands and over 40 dishes from countries including Korea, Japan, Lithuania, Hungary, England, New Zealand and many more. In this feature we meet with an event organizer before visiting a few of the stalls to find out more. MUSIC: 1.
