CAA Debate Reignites Ahead of 2024 Elections | India Today

With the 2024 elections approaching, political tensions have resurfaced over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The debate was reignited after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticised Union Minister Shantanu Thakur's statement regarding the Act. Thakur defended the CAA saying it was brought in to aid people who have experienced religious persecution in India's nearby countries. He also warned opposition parties against objecting to the act and claimed that the implementation of the CAA will commence shortly.
