This webinar happened on Thursday 13 March 2025. Enterprise Support Organisations in developing economies face critical challenges. Over-reliance on unpredictable donor funding can jeopardise long-term financial sustainability and scalability, and demonstrating impact to attract further investment is difficult. Many also lack the internal capacity for robust program management and consistently high-quality service delivery. Some organisations are now looking to Results-Based Financing (RBF) as a way to improve the impact and sustainability of Enterprise Support Organizations (ESOs) such as accelerators and incubators. In this webinar we heard from Triple Jump, an impact-focused investment manager leading a pilot initiative sponsored by the Dutch Good Growth Fund, an investment initiative from the Dutch Foreign Ministry. We also heard from their partner organisation, iGravity, an impact investment advisory firm combining consulting and investment expertise to enhance development cooperation and make impact investments more accessible. The pilot initiative these organisations are leading is already underway with two ESOs. The pilot uses an innovative RBF instrument that directly links funding to measurable ESO performance outcomes, fostering accountability, innovation, and flexibility with the aim of improving the financial sustainability of ESOs. This webinar: Introduced why business development services from ESOs are important, and the challenges faced in finding a model for such services that is sustainable beyond donor funding. Presented key findings from an ESO system assessment covering five countries that identified systemic constraints affecting ESO sustainability and delivery effectiveness. Shared insights from the design of the RBF pilot initiative, including hearing directly from one of the ESOs involved. Speakers: Julia Kho (Triple Jump), Morgane Loisel (iGravity), Eya Chemli (Open Startup International), Harry Devonshire (Argidius Foundation). Photo credit: Ali Mkumbwa (Unsplash)
