Iditarod Day 8: How to Finish Strong

There is a lot to reflect on during the last section of this race. More than the race itself is the year of training and before that a life time of preparation with these dogs.🐕 I think about their parents and their grandparents who taught me how to race and think about how proud I am of these superheroes as we make this final push to the finish. After leaving Rainy Pass we will be making our way toward Finger Lake and having to deal with the Happy River Steps. In the past mushers have gone down them and been thankful they don't have to see them again...well this time we do so that will be a fun challenge.😅 After Finger Lake we are headed to Skwenta for that final mandatory 8 hour rest which is usually done at White Mountain.🗻 After that we may see a nose to tail race toward the finish line in Willow (Deshka Landing). It is about a 60 mile push to the finish line. This has been an incredible journey, I am proud of my team and so thankful for everyone cheering us on back home!
