Narrow streets in markets, illegal encroachments, hanging electric wires, blocked access roads, and poor urban planning raise questions about how fire tenders will even reach affected areas—let alone use the hydrants effectively. Citizens and traders believe that installing hydrants alone is not enough. They are demanding removal of encroachments, proper road access, underground wiring, strict enforcement of fire safety laws, and regular fire audits in markets and commercial buildings. Experts say that if this project is implemented alongside fire safety inspections, emergency response training, and strict SOP enforcement, it could significantly reduce fire-related disasters in Punjab.
