Join me on a journey as I share the remarkable tale of this unforgettable night on “How Mini-Mandira born into this world?” Since a week,we have been here at Dhannas for medical camp and earthquake relief kit distribution. On 24th Kartik, at round 11pm at night, I found myself called into action when a desperate man approached our team at our tent site. His daughter-in-law was experiencing labor pains, and time was of the essence. Without hesitation, I followed him into the darkness, supported by my team. What I encountered in that tent took my breath away. A baby, almost ready to emerge, with the umbilical cord wrapped around its tiny neck. Our supplies were scarce, but the determination within me took charge. Joined by local women, we safely brought the crying bundle of joy into this world. But our challenges were far from over. With no proper tools available, I used a double layer of thread to tie and cut the cord, relying on my instincts. The placenta was stucked inside , but after careful massage and controlled cord traction (CCT), we achieved success. The situation grew more critical as bleeding became excessive, and the family had only a few torn pieces of cloth for delivery purposes. We made do with what we had, tearing DHOTIs apart to address the emergency. With gentle care, we cleaned and attended to the mother's needs, supporting her in initiating breastfeeding and providing counseling. This entire process unfolded in near darkness, illuminated by the faint glow of 3 mobile phones as most of our phone were out of battery and there was no electricity . All this process happened inside the tent barred by plastic and Smoke of firewood filled the air , making it difficult to even open our eyes. With limited resources and no proper delivery kit, we relied on our determination and resourcefulness to provide essential care. Perhaps the most poignant moment came when I asked the family for their chosen name for the baby girl. With beaming smiles, they replied, "Whatever your name is, we will name her the same." And so, with overwhelming joy, we named her 'MANDIRA' - a name that will forever echo the strength and unity we shared. Words cannot express the happiness and relief that filled the air as I emerged from the tent, a precious baby cradled in my arms. Knowing that I made a difference, even in the midst of tragedy, brought tears of joy to my eyes. In the midst of this incredible journey, I cannot forget the weight of the previous tragedy that loomed over us. The mother, a primigravida, carried the burden of an unsettling incident that used to occur in the village like theirs' due to lack of prompt service. The memory of that heartbreaking event weighed heavily on my heart throughout this entire experience, further fueling my determination to ensure a safe delivery for both mother and baby. This tale serves as a powerful reminder of our collective strength and resilience, especially in the face of adversity. All thanks to the team who made this possible!!
