Successful Multiple cropping systems in Pakistan | Abid Ali Agrarian In this video, I will give some tips for farmers to adopt a farming system when they intend to cultivate more than two crops in a year. A multi cropping system is a part of sustainable agriculture or sustainable farming. Farmers need to choose short cycle varieties in this cropping system. In rice wheat cropping patterns, farmers can adjust sesame crops between wheat and rice crops. Tilli variety of sesame which is actually TH 4 is a short duration variety (100 to 110 days). It can be grown on all types of well drained soils except saline soils. 20 to 25 maunds sesame grains yield can be attained in 100 days in between wheat and rice seedlings shifting duration. Remember, sesame is an oilseed crop which is a highly profitable cash crop. The paddy variety which is best in this cropping system is Kisan basmati or 1509.
