Perissa is located in the west of the island of Santorini, around 15 minutes drive from the Airport. The village is on the south side t=of the ancient settlement of Ancient Thira, which sits in between Perissa and Kamari, to the north. Along with it neighbour, Perissa is one of the two main beach destinations on the island, with its distinctive black Volcanic sand. The village is easily accessible by either hire car, taxi or by the regular bus service which terminates by the church of the holy Cross, the largest in Santorini. Just across the road the beach road runs from the foot of the mountain all the way to neighbouring Perivolos. The busiest part of the beach can be found in front of the Church where sunbeds line the beach. These continue south and the beach gets gradually quieter, the further you are from the mountain. A selection of shops can be found on the beach road selling everything from souvenirs to local produce. In the evening, the road is closed to traffic . This is where you will find the main concentration of Tavernas, bars and restaurants, many of which have tables on the beach. Perissa can provide the perfect base of either your main holiday or as a stop over for your transfer to other islands. With a wide choice of hotels, it’s just a short taxi or minibus ride to the main town of Thira and the iconic views from Oia. Its also just a short drive to the main port of Athinos, where boats depart for the neighbouring islands including Paros, Naxos and Myconos.
