What better to bring in the festive period than a back-to-back railtour action around the Sussex coast? The Bath Christmas Market, promoted by Saphos Trains, was the first of a pair of tours with 61306 'Mayflower' taking the outbound journey from Three Bridges to Bath. She would do so in light of some AWS repairs being made to the recently overhauled 71000 'Duke of Gloucester', which was being stabled at Bristol East Depot. The two would unite later that evening, making for a rare double-headed railtour, the first on the Brighton Mainline since 44871 and 45407 were at the helm of the Cathedrals Express in 2013! We wouldn't have to wait long for the next railtour, with The Bath and Bristol Christmas Express, promoted by The Railway Touring Company, following the same route the next morning. This time, it was 34028 'Eddystone' in charge, with plenty of steam on offer thanks to the chilly temperature. #steamtrain #prestonpark #christmas
