Happy New Year! I created another Game Boy 8bit cover - this time of a DS game I grew up with. So what makes a GB cover different from 8-bit NES music? Well, even though it's the same number of channels and both use primarily square waves (the simple bleep bloop sounds), the GB in some ways is more advanced than the NES, allowing for the 3rd channel to be used to create tons of custom sounds that the NES can't. The noise channel, usually used for percussion (absent from this track), also offers quite a bit more tones and character. The tradeoff is this: the GB, while more capable in many ways, is also more limited when it comes to creating advanced types of sounds. The usual volume envelopes I use on the NES (used to create a variety of dynamic sounds) are a lot trickier to recreate, and sometimes are impossible. The sound output is also a bit rougher, with noticeable popping happening whenever the volume changes. ~~~~~ Originally Composed by ~~~~~ Kazumi Totaka ~~~~~ All Artwork, Sound by ~~~~~ Tater Original composition & character likenesses owned by Nintendo ~~~~~ Sound/Video Sources ~~~~~ Emulator: SameBoy v1.0.0 Driver: GBMC Edited with DaVinci Resolve 20 ~~~~~ Business Inquiries & Contact ~~~~~ I can produce original music, sound effects, and oversee sound design for games, videos, and more.
