Your arms move a lot throughout the different poses in your yoga practice but do you know how to position them correctly? If you’re unsure about how they should be rotated as you move, this detailed breakdown will give some clarity. In this video, we discuss internal and external arm positions in Ashtanga Yoga and show you what each looks like in the arms and shoulders. We use Downward Facing Dog and Upward Facing Dog to demonstrate two rules to keep in mind that you can then apply to any posture within your practice. You’ll understand how to determine what position the arms should be in, what can cause pain in the wrists or shoulders, and what to do with your hands as well, so you can keep your shoulders safe and healthy as you practice!
