That is beautiful language. Paul had won the Corinthians to the Lord, and he is saying that the evidence of you serving the Lord is, in itself, is an open epistle. You guys are the epistle, not something written down. You are written on our hearts, and you are known and read by all men. People are watching you and they're reading the Bible in your actions. Well, at least they are reading something in our actions. We want it to be the Bible. So, maybe take a fast from Facebook for a little while. Look back on your comments and say, "Was I reflecting an epistle in in in those comments?" I'm not trying to be condemning. I'm just saying that everything matters to the Lord. Everything we say, every word matters. So, be careful. Let's all be careful that you don't do what Moses did and let your emotions get in the way which could lead to you releasing damaging words. There needs to be an ability to say, "Lord, not just WHAT to say, but HOW to say it. We need to deliver the truth but do it in love. 2 Peter 1:3-4 His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. You might remember the movie Sully - we are so close to New York City here. It was called the Miracle on the Hudson. At 2,800 feet in the air, they hit a flock of geese, and 208 seconds later, they were on the water in the Hudson River. So, that's 3 minutes and change. You don't have a lot of time to think. In the movie he is sitting before a review panel and they said, "We did the simulation and it shows you could have made it to Fort Lee and you could have made it to LaGuardia.” I love that scene. He says, “Let's get serious.” Everybody in the audience is thinking, "What are you talking about?" He said, "You have taken away the human factor. Nobody has ever lost two engines at 2,800 feet with a full load in a plane that size. You ran your simulation but I'm curious, how many times did they get to practice the simulation?" They knew immediately that they were supposed to turn to the airport. How many times? Do you remember the number? Seventeen times. They already knew what to do and it still took them seventeen times to practice it. The whole audience is thinking, "Oh my God, how did we miss that?" Where is the human factor? That is what I want to say. Today that human factor is missing in the religious approach to talking to people about God. You can't forget the human factor. You have to build a relationship with people. They need to know you, and trust you, and respect you if you expect them to trust what you're saying. It is not just a simulation on a computer. Sully says, "Can you give me a little time to react? This has never happened before. No one's ever trained for this. So they gave him thirty-five seconds.
