The first nine minutes of the Philadelphia Fever's first-ever match, in Cincinnati. This was only the third in Major Indoor Soccer League history. The Fever was made up mostly of players from Philadelphia's United League, including ex-Philadelphia Atoms Bobby Ludwig, Lew Meehl, and Skip Roderick. Also on the team was Cliff Simmons of Sicklerville, NJ, and goalkeeper Woody Hartman (Temple). Rounding out the team were two ex-New York Cosmos, Joey Fink and Freg Grgurev. The play-by-play in this match is by none other than baseball Hall of Fame announcer Harry Kalas, the long-time Phillies announcer. Cincinnati featured perennial all-star keeper Keith Van Eron; Shep Messing's brother Roy as backup GK; Keith Tozer; Gene Geimer; and Ty Keough. The Fever lost the match in overtime, 6-5. Cincinnati won all four games in the season series, but Philadelphia advanced to the finals before losing to the New York Arrows. Cincinnati folded at the end of the season, the first MISL team to do so.
