Britain's Prince William visits homeless shelter during the pandemic

Britain's Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, visited on Thursday the Light Project, a homeless shelter in Peterborough, central England, and met with a team of volunteers who have been working during the coronavirus crisis to safely get rough sleepers off the streets. Prince William, who is also the patron of homeless charity The Passage, spoke with a group of homeless people helped off the streets at the height of the pandemic. Local authorities in England began moving rough sleepers into emergency accommodation such as hotels in March, after the start of lockdown. Charities are now asking the government to take further action to provide everyone with permanent housing, warning that people will otherwise be forced to return to the streets.
