Sheikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen explains that Takbir is highly recommended during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. The Takbir consists of saying: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah" (Allah is the Greatest x2, there is no god but Allah) "wa Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa Lillahil-hamd" (Allah is the Greatest x2, and to Allah belongs all praise) Some scholars suggest repeating "Allahu Akbar" three times at the beginning (or for both). The matter is flexible, and all three ways (repeating "Allahu Akbar" twice or thrice) are acceptable. So the 3 valid ways of doing Takbeer are: 1. Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha ill-Allah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa lillahi’l-hamd 2. Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha ill-Allah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa lillahi’l-hamd 3. Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha ill-Allah, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa lillahi’l-hamd He distinguishes between two types of *Takbir*: 1. **Takbir al-Mutlaq** (Unrestricted Takbir): This can be performed at any time, day or night, starting from the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah until sunset on the last day of Ayyam al-Tashreeq (the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah). The days of *Ayyam al-Tashreeq*, the ten days before Eid, and the day of Eid are all times for unrestricted remembrance of Allah (*Dhikr al-Mutlaq*). 2. **Takbir al-Muqayyad** (Restricted Takbir): This is performed specifically after the obligatory prayers. It starts after the Fajr prayer on the Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah) and continues after every obligatory prayer until the Asr prayer on the last day of Ayyam al-Tashreeq (13th of Dhul-Hijjah). This amounts to 25 prayers in total (5 on the 9th, 5 on the 10th, 5 on the 11th, 5 on the 12th, and 5 on the 13th). This Takbeer is said after finishing the prayer and saying "Astaghfirullah" three times and "Allahumma Antas-Salam wa minkas-salam, tabarakta ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram". The lecture also reiterates the importance mentioned previously of starting the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah with righteous deeds such as remembrance of Allah (*Dhikr*), reading the Quran, Du'a, Sadaqah, prayer, etc.
