The whole myth surrounding OCD - That you're a neat freak, that you're a perfectionist, that you're quirky is nothing but a stupid lie. It's a devastating and controlling mental illness that beats you down and buses you for no reason whatsoever. For the smallest things imaginable. Forcing you to do all these rituals like flicking the light switch on and off again, washing your hands over and over again even though you know they're clean, messing with the settings on all of your electronics... It's like there's an invisible force inside your body that is just a huge control freak, always judging you and wanting you to do things it's way, and no matter how many times you try to be perfect, it's never satisfied. I feel like the best way to fight this mental illness is to force yourself out of your comfort zone. Document how many times you interacted with the light switch one time a day, how many times you washed your hands once and how productive you were in less than 12 hours. That's what you need to do. If OCD is an invisible abuser, then you are the visible divorcer. Send those divorce papers to OCD and do things the way you KNOW are visibly real, not from the perspective of the OCD force. Once you learn how to ignore it, the more internally free you'll make yourself out to be. Break free from your own prison.
