This is a brief comparison between two guitars with different construction and pickups: Ibanez RG 370 and Vintage V100. Ibanez RG 370 has basic superstrat construction, with bolt on neck and 24 frets, maple fingerboard and ash body. Its high resistance HSH configured Quantum pickups are constructed to handle heavily distorted sound and to effectively cut through the mix. The sound can be described as crisp and clear with slightly boosted high frequences. Vintage V100 is a different beast. It has Les Paul construction, with set-in neck and 22 frets, mahagony neck and body. The pickups, which are construced by Trev Wilkinson in cooperation with Seth Lover (who created Gibson PAF pickups), and I believe that especialy neck pickup (7.5 K resistance) is very close to classic Gibson `59 PAF pickups except it is slightly darker, while bridge pickup (11 K resistance) is slightly "hotter" than classic PAF`s. The solo is recorded directly through Line 6 Pod Go Wireless, with same setting for both guitars except that Vintage was slightly boosted in 4.3 K frequency in order to be a bit brighter. I have slightly reduced distortion effect comparing to the original Gary Moore`s version, in order to provide clearer demonstration of each guitar`s voice (more distortion would further mask the differences). Although each of these guitars has its own character and voice, I believe that they could sound pretty similar with some EQ tuning...
